Video: Intelligence Gaps in the Age of Encryption

In case you missed it, check out these video clips from our forum at NYU on intelligence challenges that stem from new encryption and surveillance technology, and how investigative reporting on terror has been force to adapt.

On March 2, the OPC and the NYU Center for Global Affairs co-sponsored a discussion with panelists Daniel Klaidman, Yahoo News deputy editor, OPC governor and author of Kill or Capture: The War on Terror and the Soul of the Obama Presidency; and Michael Isikoff, chief investigative correspondent for Yahoo News.

The panelists talked about the standoff between Apple and the FBI over federal demands to help extract data from an iPhone used by one of the shooters in December’s terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, and potential effects of these issues on the upcoming presidential election.

The event was part of an ongoing series, titled Newsmakers: Perspectives in Global Media with Alexis Gelber.

Gelber, former OPC president and a longtime top editor at Newsweek, moderated the discussion.
