3 Journos Released in Afghanistan

KABUL: Three journalists for The Guardian were released unharmed on December 16, six days after they were kidnapped by an armed gang in a remote part of eastern Afghanistan.

Correspondent Ghaith Abdul-Ahad, an Iraqi, and two Afghan colleagues whose names were not released for security reasons were held in a cold and snowy place, surviving on soup, tea and bread. The men had traveled to mountainous Kunar Province, a Taliban stronghold on the border with Pakistan, to interview militants.
