HIRING: Business Editor, Ukraine

To build up and oversee business coverage at the Kyiv Post, Ukraine’s only English language newspaper.

With a 20-year reputation for independence, the Kyiv Post has become the West’s window on Ukraine. Now with Putin shifting gears to Syria, the consensus is that Ukraine will emerge in 2016 as Europe’s new ‘frontier’ economy. Investors already are making their purchases, betting that Ukraine assets have hit bottom. Come and coordinate coverage of the exciting economic rebirth of this agricultural powerhouse, a nation of 45 million people. (Knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian not necessary).

HIRING: News Editor, Ukraine.

With a 20-year reputation for independence, the Kyiv Post has become the West’s window on Ukraine. This window will become all the more important now that flights are cut between Russia and Ukraine, cutting off the Moscow-based press corps from a key story.

The Kyiv Post is looking for a seasoned, native English speaking news editor.

Duties: work with English-speaking Ukrainian reporters to conceive and shape stories, coach them, and then edit the final product for publication on line or Friday in the weekly Kyiv Post.

Russian/Ukrainian language skills are not essential, but East European experience and real news editing skill are key.

HIRING: Russian/Ukrainian-speaking Reporters for Kyiv Post

The Kyiv Post, Ukraine’s only English language newspaper, is looking for smart, self starting reporters to cover the fast evolving Ukraine story. Putin may be distracted by Syria, but big question marks hang over Ukraine for 2016:: will the free market reforms promised by the Maidan Revolution be implemented? will corruption be reduced? will the war in the East become a ‘manageable’ frozen conflict?

The Kyiv Post, already the most cited news source in Ukraine, will be increasingly crucial for telling this story. The Oct. 25 ban on flights between Russia and Ukraine, cuts off the Moscow-based press corps. November’s radical downsizing of the Moscow Times, from daily to weekly, cuts off that source of Ukraine coverage for the West.

Russian and/or Ukrainian language skills are essential to report the Ukraine story.
