The New York Times has named a former foreign correspondent as editor of its business section, replacing Larry Ingrassia. He is Dean E. Murphy, who was a correspondent for The Los Angeles Times in Poland and South Africa and reported on the war in the former Yugoslavia. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and has a master’s degree in international affairs from Johns Hopkins University. He joined The Times in 2000. Ingrassia will be assuming another as yet undefined role at The Times.
