OPC Award-Winning Photos on Exhibit at Columbia

For a close look at some outstanding works of photojournalism, stop by the 3rd floor of Columbia University School of Journalism for an exhibit of photographs from this year’s OPC Award winners, including Tyler Hicks of The New York Times, OPC board member Robert Nickelsberg and Jerome Delay of the Associated Press.

The poster-sized prints will be on display through the end of October.

Hicks won the OPC’s Robert Capa Gold Medal and a Pulitzer Prize for his photos of the massacre at the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya.

Nickelsberg won the Olivier Rebbot Award for his book “Afghanistan: A Distant War.”

Delay won the John Faber Award for his photos of unrest in the Central African Republic.

To hear tips from Nickelsberg and other photojournalists, read a recap of “From the Outside In,” a panel discussion about best practices when reporting in hostile areas.
