WSJ Top Editor to Run Spin Off

From the WSJ.com: News Corp. plans to name Wall Street Journal managing editor Robert Thomson as chief executive of its soon-to-be-created publishing company, people familiar with the matter said. Meanwhile, News Corp.’s U.K. newspaper chief, Tom Mockridge, is resigning.

The media company confirmed Mockridge’s resignation Sunday night. His departure comes just 18 months after he took the reins at the British newspaper unit, News International, at the height of the phone-hacking scandal. Mockridge succeeded Rebekah Brooks, who was one of a number of News Corp. executives to quit during the scandal, which prompted closure of the company’s tabloid News of the World.
